What is Zapier
Zapier is an online tool that acts as a connector between many online apps and services, including Assignar. Zapier connects these apps, allowing you to automate tasks that you would otherwise need to perform manually.
Some Zapier Terminology
A zap is the name for the automated workflow that you create in Zapier. For example, you might have a zap that creates a Client in Assignar whenever you create a new client in your CRM.
A trigger is the event that causes a Zap to start running. Once you set up a Zap, Zapier starts monitoring for this trigger event. In the example above, the trigger would be "new client created in my CRM".
A Zap can perform one or more Action based on the Trigger. In our example, the action would be "create new client in Assignar". You might also send an email to accounts, as a second action.
Let's say you wanted to give a regular client the ability to directly create a new order in Assignar. Well, you can create a zap that runs every time a Google Form is submitted (the Trigger). This form collects the required information, then passes it into a Create Order Action.
Supported Assignar Actions
Assignar currently supports the following Actions:
- Create Order
- Create or Update a Client
- Create Project
- Create User
- Create or Update a Supplier
- Create Contact
- Create an Asset
What About Triggers?
Assignar does not currently provide any Triggers to start a Zapier workflow. Advanced technical users can, however configure one of our built-in Webhooks as a Zapier trigger.
- Form submitted
- Timesheet submitted
- Form status update
Configuring a Webhook as a Zapier Trigger
Note that this requires some technical capability, as well as a Premium Zapier account.
Configure the Zapier Trigger
Create a new Zap, and set its trigger to "Webhooks by Zapier", and the trigger event to "Catch Hook", as shown below.
After you Continue, Zapier will create a URL that forms the destination for the Webhook in Assignar. Copy that URL for the next step:
Configure the Webhook
- Open the Settings menu in the Assignar Web App
- Select Webhooks
- Select New Webhook at the top of the screen.
- Give the Webhook a name, paste in the Zapier URL from the previous step.
- Ignore the "Secret" field.
- Now, select the event that you would like to trigger this webhook. Remember, the available events are: Form submitted; Timesheet submitted; Form status update.
Make sure you have only one web hook configured for any particular event - Assignar does not support multiple webhooks per event.
You now have a Zapier trigger that will start a Zap running when that event in Assignar occurs.
